WordPress Intern Job description: WordPress Development Intern
Nuts & Bolts
Bachelor degree (or in pursuit-of) in related field or comparable experience in the web development required. Substantial experience working with similar technologies and environment. Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS, intermediate JavaScript, DNS, and Linux. Experienced in developing for WordPress; Laravel development experience preferred. Ability to breakdown client problems and develop a software solution from system design to implementation. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with good time management skills.
Reports To: Vice President of Web Design & Development
The Nitty-Gritty
- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
- Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of WordPress
- Knowledge of PHP frameworks (CodeIgniter, Symfony, Yii, Zend, etc) a plus. Laravel strongly desired.
- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) a plus.
- Knowledge of change control systems, specifically Git, a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Works at night, in the dark, alone at 3 a.m.
- Takes copious notes in code
- Comfortable talking with clients (via phone, email and in person)
- Detail-oriented in context of a fast-paced environment
- Can juggle projects, hats & cups of coffee (see Marketing openings)
- Wants to learn fast & furious
- Sense of Humor
